Timothy J. Gillespie, Sr.

Waterville - Timothy James Gillespie Sr., 52 devoted father, beloved son and brother, loved partner and friend of many, passed away on Saturday, May 8th, 2010 at his home in Waterville with family members at his side.  He was born September 28, 1957, in Morrisville, Vermont, a son of Hubert and Lois (Machia) Gillespie.

Tim fought a gallant battle with lung cancer for almost 5 years. His positive outlook and selfless attitude in the face of his biggest life challenge was an inspiration to anyone who knew Tim. Tim’s deep appreciation for his family, his close acquaintances and the great outdoors strengthened and galvanized his battle efforts.

Tim graduated from Lamoille Union High School - Class of 1975. He was most recently employed at IBM, Essex Junction, Vermont. Throughout his entire working career he maintained an interest in the building trades, given his association with his father’s contracting business. Wherever Tim worked, he was known for his quick witted humor and strong work ethic.

He is survived by his parents, Hubert and Lois Gillespie of Waterville; his children Timothy James Gillespie Jr. of Waterville, Kristi Gillespie of Jeffersonville, Amber Gillespie of Waterville and their mother Donna Ciarcia of Jeffersonville; his sister Laurie Broe and her husband Bert of Jeffersonville, his brothers Gary Gillespie and his wife Lauren of Newport, David Gillespie of Jeffersonville, and John Gillespie and his wife Linda of Waterville; his loving companion Wilda Haggerty of Waterville; by many supportive aunts and uncles, cousins, and several loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday May 11, 2010 at A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel.  A memorial service will be held on Wednesday May 12, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Christian Assembly, 100 Raceway Road, Jericho, VT with the Reverend Michael Murray officiating.  Inurnment will be in the family lot in Jeffersonville Village Cemetery at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the following extraordinary care-giving associations, Lamoille County Home Health and Hospice 54 Farr Avenue Morrisville, VT 05661 and Lamoille County Cancer Society,  P O Box 38,  Lake Elmore, VT 05657.  Arrangements are by John D.
