Memorial Day PicturesWe were up getting flowers for the cemetery, and I saw this butterfly on this hanging basket. The smoke. In memoriam.Memorial DayUTICA-ROME, SMOKE, AND STUFFIn a nutshell, Utica-Rome was nothing to write home about. Some people compared the track to a hockey rink. It was. No grip what so ever.
Anthony didn't do well in his heat, finished 6th in the B-Main, thinking he qualified. NOPE! Made a mistake. Only 4 were supposed to qualify. And then the two provisionals went to two cars that finished ahead of him the previous night at Fonda. It's long and complicated. We left as the cars were lining up for the A-Main.
When we got home at 3AM, Anthony said it looked like smoke up by the house. You could smell woodsmoke in the air. Didn't really think anymore of it until morning.
Margie was not happy, as she thought someone in the village was burning a brushpile early in the morning. Couldn't have the front door open. I went out and noticed there was a haze on Georgia Hill. I logged onto Chris Santee's site, and saw the smoke is from Canadian wildfires. Phew!
As our custom on Memorial Day weekend, Margie and I went and got some flowers to put at the cemetery.
I took some pictures and decided to post them now. Still have the rest of the day to go.
I will be posting racing pictures from Fonda and Utica-Rome the next few days. I took some nice ones.
