Mother Of Kristie Esmond Dies At Age 61

SHARYN L. ESMOND ISLAND POND - Sharyn L. Esmond, 61, of Island Pond and formerly of Essex Center, passed away on March 3, 2011 in Bradenton, Fla. after a long illness. Born on Sept. 25, 1949 in Newport, she was the daughter of the late Alton "Chief" and Maye Wing of Island Pond. Sharyn belonged to the Random Ladies club and was a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family and many friends. Sharyn will be missed by many. Sharyn is survived by her husband of 35 years, Reginald "Bud" Esmond; daughter, Amanda "Amy" (Esmond) Hughes and her husband, Jay, of Glenmoore, Pa.; and daughter, Kristie Esmond and Jeff Matthews of Fairfax. She was a devoted grandmother and leaves behind Kimberly Matthews of Allen, TX; Jeffrey Matthews of Fairfax; and Isabella and Evan Hughes. She is also survived by a brother, Mickey Wing of Island Pond; two sisters, Pat (Wing) Lontine of Island Pond and Pam (Wing) Petrofsky of Stewartstown, N.H.; and a sister-in-law, Gail (Esmond) Fletcher of Rosamond, Calif.; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial gathering in Sharyn's honor will be planned for this summer. Donations in her honor may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, Post 80, of Island Pond, Vt.
