William J. R. “Bill” Winston

Cambridge

William John Robert “Bill” Winston, 60 passed away at his home in Cambridge on Tuesday March 29, 2011.  He was born on May 2, 1950 in New York City son of the late William and Helen (Petroski) Winston.

Bill was a smart and multi talented man who inspired his college students for many years as a professor of health management and marketing at Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California.  He ran the Executive MBA program and prior to that he was Dean and Professor of Management in the undergraduate program.   He was senior editor in marketing for The Haworth Press in New York editing five national journals for many years.  In addition he had an economic and marketing consulting business. Bill had an MBA in health education and planning from The John Hopkins University.  He was named Marketing Educator of the Year nationally.  He had a strong work ethic which assisted him in being successful despite having lost his parents at an early age.  He loved to laugh and spend time with his wife and son and many friends on both coasts.  He was gregarious and fun loving with a keen interest in politics, baseball and trivia information that he could entertain his family and friends.   He loved to spend time with his son whether through regular exercise, swimming or listening to music or other such activities. He loved to play tennis, shoot pool, ride a bike and go on many adventures with his wife and son. He especially enjoyed his travels to England and Ireland.  Bill was a much loved and treasured husband, father, friend and teacher/mentor.  He will be sorely missed.

He is survived by:

His wife Rosanna (Pribilovics) Winston;

His son William “Billy” John Stephan Winston;

A brother-in-law Istvan and wife Rose (Cardinale) Pribilovics and their children Alexandra and Barthelemy “Berty”.

There will be no visiting hours held.  A memorial service will be held at A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel, on Sunday April 3, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend Elizabeth Griffin officiating.  Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family.  Memorial contributions in Bill’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, 55 Day Lane Williston, VT 05495-1460.  Arrangements are by John D. Workman, A. W.
