Where did these clouds come from?
22 cars here at Mohawk, so everyone qualifies. Anthony drew 8th in the first heat race and finished 6th. With everyone qualifying, my guess is he will start 16th in the A-Main.

Anthony finished 19th on another dry slick track. Brought it home in one piece. Steve Poirier wins again at Mohawk.

I really wish I "just got" car racing, vehicle racing.....!

It is always on when football isn't and it seems I get SPEED Channel too..

I just don't get it............

I like watching golf, I know, I am sick, Hockey, Baseball, and the all mighty FOOTBALL.
I like watching the NBA Finals.....come on Miami....what the what...........?

But car racing never interested me.

It is exciting, fast paced, drama, but I never have "gotten it"....

I have two friends that are engineers at GM and they swear by NASCAR.
My UNTRAINED eye sees nothing but left turns.

I freak out when I drive 80 mph,,,, maybe I need to open my Jeep up?

I just don;t get it.
It looks like "traffic" too me.

HELP ME GET IT UNCLE MIKE...! Help me.

I'm not sure I can.
You are either into it or not.
Maybe if you knew someone who raced and helped them out at a local track.
Racing is better when you watch it at a local track anyway.
I watch NASCAR for the wrecks.

All my life, I knew someone who was racing.
It started with Larry Parsons, my next door neighbor, who raced at Catamount Stadium.
Then my brother, Carl, got involved with Hector LeClair. Carl was working at the local ARCO stationed owned by Richard LeClair, Hector's brother. Carl got connected, was part of the pit crew, and ended up marrying Hector's oldest daughter.
Once you start going in the pits, you start meeting other people, and you become friends, so you hope they do well.

And now Anthony is racing.
Dirt track racing is better than asphalt, dust and all.
And the sprints are the best. Lightweight, and FAST.
First time I saw the Empire Super Sprints was at Devil's Bowl down in Fair Haven, VT. When they went charging into turn one, they were going so fast, I thought that no way they were all going to make it around the turn. They did.

It's just one of those things you have to see in person for yourself, and go from there.

Depends on the track surface. A larger track(half mile), and a grippy surface, maybe 120 mph. Quarter mile, maybe 75-85 mph. But a dry slick track will reduce the speed because your not giving it a lot of gas because there is no grip.
Case in point.
Mohawk. 1/2 mile.
Hot laps, Steve Poirier was running anywhere from a 15.3 to a 15.5 seconds a lap. During the A-Main, he set a fast lap time of 16.1. Track for the A-main was dry and slick.
