This plane was circling over Fairfax Village , today at around noon. I saw it 3 times, flying very low.
Got any clues?

I'm not an airline specialist, but they were doing a "fly-by" (or whatever the term is) for BFA elementary students.

It was a C130 just out training.  He was flying low because he was VFR(visual flight rules) and the clouds were low.  They flew all over the area including over Burlington.

C-130s were a staple here in Anchorage at the AFB until the C-17s came out and were based here.

The C-17s just don't look right "lumbering" into the sky....

If you were blind folded and tossed into a C-17 hull, un blind folded you'd swear you were in a C-5.

They are that wide inside.

Amazing planes the C-17s AND C-130s.

My thought seeing the photo was C-130.  It is the same basic model as the "Fat Albert" the Navy Blue Angels fly for air shows.  The take off / landing distances needed are impressively short considering the size of the plan and their cargo load capacity.

The C-130 pilot was a Fairfax graduate (not sure if I can give their name, so I won't) who was in Burlington for a short while.  Nice picture, Henry.  I wish I would have grabbed my camera when he banked right over my house...simply amazing!!!!    I know his mom was thrilled!

It used to fly right over IBM for hours every day. I assumed it was for touch n go or cargo drop training.

I felt like the air traffic controller in the movie Top Gun when he buzzed my house. I think 50 feet lower and he could have been driving on the road.

It scared me half to death! I heard this loud noise coming towards my house. I thought a plane had lost control and was going to hit. I wasn't looking out the window at the time... Just heard thIs overpowering rumble come closer and closer. I thought this is it.... Then it went away.... Until the second time... And third time. I wasn't thrilled.

 C 130 one of the worlds most popular aircraft and its old I first flew in them in the early 60's
civilian version is the L 480 which is 12 feet longer we used to load two S58'T' helicopters in them and go to Saudi  5 trips--no wonder I am deaf
how about some F4's like the austronauts flew--Conrad and Gordon both we our squadron pilots and Gordon set the cross country speed record in one

'Nam 67&68 ... just a passenger (military standby). It took me upcountry, stopping at every landing strip along the way....up, down, up, down... rarely flying  level. The seats were more like bicycle racks. And the temporary duty trips to Japan were torture...cold. long, and noisy. But, it beat walking.

I wished I was home so I could have seen it. What a joy for Uncle Marc to fly over the school for Neice and Nephews to at least see him flying overhead.  They were doing low flying training that day during his layover here.
