Had to go down to the North Avenue DMV yesterday.  Was going to go to Montpelier, but Mary Kay called and they could do a transfer of title in Burlington.  First off, lots of construction there.  You can't go in where you used to go in, so I went to St. Mark's Church and turned around and went in at the South end of the building and around back.

My car was registered in mine & Maryann's name, so I followed the instructions and crossed out her name and license number and wrote on the back that she was deceased like it asked me to.  Thank goodness, I did this at the beginning of the month because about a week later I got it back and it told me I needed to send in my title, a death certificate, and $31 plus the $65 for the registration along with the odemeter reading.

I then called Montpelier and after going through the MENU, ended up talking to a guy who told me that, first of all they did not send me the form and also that for a deceased spouse it is $7 instead of $31 and that he would send me the forms in the mail.  Well, I got them last Saturday and decided the best thing for me to do was to drive right down to Montpelier, until Mary Kay called them and they told her it could all be done in Burlington.

Once I got checked in and filled out some paper work, I sat and waited about 10 minutes and was called in.  The person was excellent and they made a copy of the death certificate, so that saved me a $10 certificate.  I now have a new sticker on my rear number plate and should get a new title within 2 to 4 weeks.

Sure glad I didn't wait until the very last minute.

Gov't run health care system won't need "death panels".

They'll kill people with beaurocracy.

Isn't it bad enough that the insurance companies are telling the hospitals how long a patient stay should be, now we have the government thinking they know best too.  We need the doctors in charge of our medical care again.

Not much chance of the doctors being in charge anymore. And I think cedarman is onto something there.... they will tell you that you need to see a specialist, send you to the DMV.... and.... yup, I can see it all so clearly now!
