Mary B. (Harris) Jones

Jeffersonville - Mary Belle (Harris) Jones, 86, died in the Vermont Respite House on Wednesday June 29, 2011 after a brief illness.  She was born in Brockway, PA on August 21, 1924, daughter of the late Russell and Mary Harris.  She graduated from Eastern Nazarene College where she began her administrative career, moving to Vermont to work at the Roger W. Mann Hospital in Jeffersonville.  She was the first Physician Assistant in Vermont to graduate from that program and was a dedicated and loyal employee in that field for many years.  She later worked with the Yankee Trader internet book business.

Mary Belle was active in her church and community.  She enjoyed baking, gardening, reading and was widely known for her beautiful quilting and knitting which were displayed and sold in northern Vermont gift shops.

She will be greatly missed by her sisters Virginia, Marylin, Betty; brother in law Henry, many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

She was also predeceased by her husband, DeRand Jones and her brothers John, Jack, Gordon and Bob.

According to her wishes, there will be no public funeral or visiting hours.  Inurnment will be private and in the family lot in Brockway, PA.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Middletown, NY Church of the Nazarene, c/o Marylin DeNicolais, Church Secretary, 139 Youngblood Road, Montgomery, NY 12549.  The family is being assisted by John D.
