Got a phone call today and the person or I should say computer on the other end told me that my household had been selected for a free cruise for two to the Caribbean.  It told me to push 1 to go on or 2 to take me off the list - I pushed 2

Awwww ... that cruise would have been an awesome birthday gift for you. Are you sure pushing 2 was the right choice? Maybe "they" knew you had a birthday coming up.

Henry         I can see the headline now.....Fairfax , Vermont man kidnapped in Costa Rica while on Caribbean Cruise , entire Fairfax Community raises ransom money through raffles & bake sales and asks kidnappers to provide Mr. Raymond with rolls baked at Fletcher Chicken Pie Supper as gesture of good faith to keep his spirits up , while Florida man sets off from Punta Gorda in 16 ' fiberglass canoe with a dozen Dunkin' Doughnuts to assist with exchange !!!  Kidnappers finally release Fairfax man after hearing that Rescue Team led by Gary Stewart is nearing Costa Rica mainland with small armed contingent which includes Mike Raeburn and Rod Anode .....still no sign of canoe with Dunkin Doughnuts    ( rumors have it in Miami at the Casino ) !!!

Even more reason to hit the SIT tone, to show them that the number is no longer in service....as far as they know.
The tones should cancel your number from their system.

I think option #1 would have proven to be less than wonderful--sounds like a time-share thing. They schmooze you with a "free" cruise and you agree to  do all these other things. You also end up paying your way to the Port-of-Call (which is likely quite costly from here) etc.

I can't say for sure, but getting off the list was by far the best choice! Really enjoyed the "rescue" commentary! =D
