Fairfax Fire & Rescue is responding to a reported barn fire at 1 River Bend Lane in Westford - I think if I remember right that is off Route 128 between Fairfax & Westford.

River Bend Lane is just a short ways over the Fairfax/Westford Town Line on the left as you are headed South on Route 128 - I have not been listening to my scanner, so do not know the seriousness of the fire.

Fox 44 News said tonight that the fire at 1 River Bend Lane was caused by a fan falling on a stove.  Extensive damage was avoided as the owner used a hose and sprayed water on the fan that fell on the stove.  It was a quick blurp on the news and this old mind did not get much of the details but maybe someone from the fire department will post something.

Fairfax was the first fire department on scene and found that the homeowners had contained the fire to one corner of the garage/barn (we all were lucky they had a hose that wasn't frozen).  Our guys finished putting it out, then Essex and Westford took care of overhaul.  Damage was contained to a fairly small area.

Thanks 7F24 - I have found that Fox 44 is very good about covering local news in the area - They don't have a long news program but do cover many items.
