ESTHER J. BESSETTE

GEORGIA - Esther J. Bessette, 68, a longtime resident of Georgia, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in the VT Respite House in Williston. Esther was born in Colchester on Sept. 6, 1943, the daughter of Ralph and Gladys (Conger) Gaudette, and was a graduate of Essex Junction High School. She was married in Georgia to Franklin D. Bessette Sr., who predeceased her in 2003. Esther retired after 27 years of employment from Woolworths in Burlington. After retirement, Esther and Franklin owned and operated Esther's Small Engine Repair in Georgia. Esther enjoyed her doll collection, but mostly she enjoyed people, family and friends. She was a very caring and giving person. Esther is survived by her sister, Ethel McDonald and her husband, Clement, of Georgia; three brothers, Leon Gaudette and his wife, Ellie, of Barre, Richard L. Gaudette and his wife, Winona, of Georgia, and Rodney Gaudette of St. Albans; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. She was predeceased by her parents; and by an infant brother, David Leon Gaudette. Visiting hours will be on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a prayer service celebrating Esther's life beginning at 1 p.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St. in Winooski. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery Annex in Burlington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Vermont Respite House, 99 Allen Brook Lane, South Burlington, VT 05403, or to the funeral home to help with family matters.
