Nearly 1,000 residents in Fletcher, Fairfax, and Georgia experienced a power outage around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The outage, which lasted until approximately 6 a.m. today, was due to water leaking into a transformer at a local substation, this afternoon's St. Albans Messenger reported.

Kathryn Johnson, manager of member relations for the Vermont Electric Cooperative, said officials did not expect continuing problems related to the incident.
