St. Albans – Wendell R. “Dash” Dashno, 78, a lifelong area resident passed away unexpectedly Monday July 30, 2012, shortly after arrival at the Northwestern Medical Center. Born on November 21, 1933, in Fairfax, he was the son of the late Herbert J. and Clarabelle (Bruley) Dashno.

On July 27, 1957, in Swanton, Wendell married Mary Ann Noel, who survives him.

Wendell was a 1954 graduate of Swanton High School, and then had forty-three years of service at the St. Albans Co-Operative Creamery. He retired in October of 1998 as a milk inspector. He was an avid Red Sox fan; he coached St. Albans Little League teams for a number of years, played on area softball teams, was an official umpire of many softball games and loved to be in his boat fishing.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Mary Ann, of St. Albans, his two brothers, Elton Dashno and his wife, Thelma, of St. Albans Bay and Robert Dashno of Riverview Florida. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Madeline “Maggie” Belval of Essex and brothers-in-law, Roland Noel of Swanton, Al Noel of Portland, Oregon, Charles Noel of St. Albans and Gerry Noel of East Lansing, Michigan and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Wendell was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Arnold.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, August 3, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. in the Heald Funeral Chapel, with the Reverend Maurice J. Roy officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Mount Calvary Cemetery. Those wishing to honor Wendell’s memory are asked to contribute to the American Heart Association, Vermont Division, Inc. 434 Hurricanes Lane, Williston, VT 05495. Private messages of condolence to Wendell’s family are welcome at www.healdfuneralhome.com.
