Leaving Pasadena to Yermo was a short trip...about 100 miles. But we had to go over the mountains again to get to the high country. I didn't have to use 3rd gear because I was able to use cruise control set at 65 mph. Besides the grade was gradual. Air Temp was about 97 but the air was warm, much more so than on the coast. Today we're going to check out the Calico Ghost Town and the Devils Playground. Look closely at pic 6319 and you will see the word "Calico" written in the mountainside. Look even closer and you will notice it is a mining operation. In actuallity it is an abandoned silver mine. The playground is in the southestwest corner of the Mojave Desert.
