While in Erie we visited the Maritime Museum, which focuses on the War of 1812, specifically the Battle of Lake Erie. I'm in the belly of the ship, Niagara, from which Perry commanded the defeat of the British Fleet on Lake Erie. I don't think I would do well on this vessel.

Next we visited the Perry Monument on Presque Isle, outside of Erie.

Finally we visited the location of Fort LeBoeuf in Waterford, PA. The fort is famous both in French and Indian War and the War of 1812.

Our next stop is Geneva, NY of the Finger Lakes where we'll spend three days following the War of 1812 and buying wine.

Our last stop before returning home is Plattsburg, NY the location of a major battle and defeat for the British on Lake Champlagne.
