Hi All,

My sister was telling me that today on her way back from the village a moose was crossing the road just above Claude & Christine Rainville's barn.  Apparently it must have come from Buck Hollow way and went into the BFA Forest.

On the Channel 3 news tonight they said that moose are coming out of the woods and looking for water near the roads as it contains road salt.

JoAnne Wilkins sent me the following note and I'll bet it was the same moose my sister Theresa saw earlier in the day near Claude & Chris Rainvilles:

Hi Henry,
I thought you might be interested that I saw a moose in Fairfax on Monday afternoon. It was swimming in the Lamoille River, between River Berry Farm and Rte. 104. It swam the river, and  had to break the ice on the bank to get up on the Rte 104 side. It climbed the river bank and came out at the pulloff. It shook itself, like a dog, and crossed the road and went up the steep bank on the other side of the road. It didn't have horns, but I don't know if they have started to grow them yet, this time of year.
It sure made my day.
JoAnne
