Teresa M. Tilton
Swanton

Teresa May Tilton, 74, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012 at Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans with her children and daughter-in-law by her side. She was born on July 24, 1938 in Waterville, VT daughter of the late Howard and Marjorie (Eldred) Tilton.

Teresa was a devoted Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star Swanton Chapter Number 11 in Swanton.  She was a volunteer at Northwestern Medical Center for many years and a volunteer for American Red Cross blood drives.   Teresa was a valued member of the Swanton School House Senior Living Center organizing special events and meals.   She was a devout member of the United Church of Fairfax.  Teresa enjoyed her family and was always there for them when she was needed.  Teresa enjoyed trips to Maine as often as possible to spend time with her daughter and her daughter’s family and looked forward to working with her daughter at Curves in Windham Maine whenever possible.

She is survived by her son Craig Sanborn and wife Debbie of St. Albans; daughter Tammy Green and husband Arthur of Windham, ME; three brothers Amos Tilton and wife Evelyn; Charles Tilton; “Pete” Lloyd Tilton and wife Sandy all of Waterville; a sister Juanita Cutting and husband Dayton of Jeffersonville; four grandchildren:  Christopher and Jamie Sanborn; Savanna Sanborn and David Dumas; Heidi and Martin Fowler; Jeremiah Green; three great grandchildren; Carter Sanborn; Connor Dumas; and Evan Fowler; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and very special friend Gini Young.

She was also predeceased by her sister-in-law Ellen Tilton and her Ex Husband, the father of her children, Philip Sanborn.

One of Teresa’s last request was to post a letter expressing her thanks to everyone that visited and supported her in so many ways such as cleaning, transportation, cards and messages and the much appreciated meals. This last request best exemplifies the giving caring nature of Teresa, that in her last days her thoughts were of others not of herself.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday December 7, 2012 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 8, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at United Church of Fairfax with Reverend Elizabeth Griffin officiating.  Inurnment will be in the spring at the convenience of the family.  Memorial contributions in Teresa’s memory may be made to the United Church of Fairfax, c/o Sally Sweet Treas., 44 Sweet-Slattery Road, East Fairfield, VT 05448 or Order of Eastern Star checks payable to:  Swanton Chapter 11, c/o Susan Collins, 23 Broadway St., Swanton, VT 05488.  The family invites you to share your memories and online condolence by visiting www.awrichfuneralhomes.com.

Take Care & God Bless,
