Following graduation from high school she became a licensed practical nurse and was employed by several area nursing homes. She was a former member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, in St. Albans and former member of the Salvation Army and Women of the Moose. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially at their camp and being near the water. Her favorite pastime was reading and she spent many hours working with ceramics.

March 2, 1955 she married Clement W. Norris. Besides her husband of Sheldon Springs, she is survived by her three sons and their spouses Sheriff Robert and Libby Norris of Sheldon, Alan and Julie Norris of Fairfax, Kevin and Amy Norris of Essex, her son-in-law Daniel Williams of Underhill, her loving 12 grandchildren, Michael and wife Gina, Jessica and fiancee Charlie, Christopher, Nicholas, Andrew, Cody and Wife Whitney, Kyle, Daniel, Patrick, and William Norris, Jared and Joshua Williams. Brothers and sisters Shirley and Larry Machia, Carl Thompson, Catherine Hatterick, Kenneth Thompson, Gloria Glidden and Richard Thompson, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her daughter Deborah Ann Williams, November 1, 2002 and by her brothers Phillip, James and Robert Thompson.

Betty’s family would like to express their gratitude for all the kindnesses shown to them, especially by Dr. Bill Roberts, Dr. Amy Roberts and Douglass and the staff of Franklin County Home Health Agency, during the several years of her failing health.

In keeping with Betty’s wishes her funeral services will be private. Interment will be in the Norris family lot in Sheldon Village Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Vermont Division of the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 1460, Williston, Vermont 05495. Online condolences may be extended to Betty’s family by the Brady & Levesque website: www.bnlfh. com.
