Carroll J. Robtoy, Sr.
(December 15, 1943 - May 7, 2007)


Fairfax - Carroll J. Robtoy, Sr., 63, a longtime area resident passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 7, 2007, at his home. He was born in St. Albans, Vermont on December 15, 1943 the son of Landon, Sr., and Betty (Arpin) Robtoy. Carroll married Gwendolyn Gallup in Fairfax, Vermont on December 29, 1988. Gwen also passed away on May 7, 2007.

Carroll owned and operated Gallup’s Electric, Inc. and Ralston’s Antiques with his wife, Gwen. He was also a former member of Robert E. Glidden Post # 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, practical jokes and story telling. He also enjoyed attending antique auctions. Carroll took great pride in the goods and services he provided for his many Franklin County customers.

Survivors include his sons; Carroll Robtoy, Jr. of St. Albans, Duncan Robtoy and Karen Holbrook of Swanton, Scott Robtoy of Sheldon and Bradley Robtoy and his wife, Terri of Sheldon, his grandchildren; Steven, Michelle, Austin, Shane, Sr., Jacob, Brock, Brandyn, Makenna, and Cayla, his great grandson, Shane, Jr. Carroll is also survived by his brothers, John and Debbie Robtoy , Ronald and Elaine Robtoy, Louis and Lorraine Robtoy, Mike Robtoy, Landon Robtoy, Jr. all of St. Albans and Eddie and Kim Robtoy of Enosburg, his sisters, Pauline Demag, Sandy and Dan Scanlon, Laura L’Esperance, Joanne and Ronnie Chaplin, Marlene Lambert, Cora and Scott Levick all of St. Albans and Dora and Mike Brodeur of Swanton and many nieces and nephews. Carroll was preceded in death by his mother, Betty on February 20, 1999, his brother David Robtoy, Sr. on March 5, 1999, his sister, Darlene Beaudry on January 15, 2001, his father Landon Robtoy, Sr. on March 31, 2005, his nephews, Bernard Levick on October 28, 1992, Ronald Robtoy, II. on July 23, 1995, and Ricky Gabree, Jr. on March 31, 2002, and his nieces, Lori, Lisa, Peggy, Frannie and Debbie all in 1968.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 14, 2007, at 2:00 P.M. in Holy Angels Church on Lake Street. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Carroll’s family will receive friends on Sunday May 13th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, Vermont 05478 or a charity of one’s choice.
