CATHERINE PEARL ROUSSIN

MARATHON, Fla. — Catherine Pearl Roussin, 83 of Marathon, Fla., passed away on May 20, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
K
She was born Nov. 24, 1929, in Burlington to the late Louis and Merilda Bombard.

She is survived by her husband, Gerard Roussin of Marathon, Fla.; and her children, Michael and Arlene Roussin of Tennessee, Donna and Jerry Powell of Vermont, Patty and Ed Coyle and Gerard (Spook) and Sandy Roussin of Florida. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Catherine is survived by seven siblings, Helen and Dick Young of Pennsylvania, Barb LaFountain of Vermont, Marie Rouille of Massachusetts, May Hoover of West Virginia, Sonny Bombard, Paul and Linda Bombard and David and Dawn Bombard all of Vermont. Aunt Cathy left behind over 100 nieces and nephews. Catherine is also survived by her best friend, Nena Gonzales of Florida, who was with her the final days and was able to make her smile, which was such a comfort to her entire family.

She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Roussin of Vermont; two sisters, Dorothy Fortin and Mary Lou Kane; and one brother, Harold Bombard all from Vermont.

Catherine was a very hard worker and always made sure her children did not go without. She enjoyed life and loved to dance. She was a regular at all the old barn dances in the local area and also was quite the bowler winning the Vermont State championship team event with sisters and friends. She raised or helped raise many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and neighborhood children, and when she moved to Florida in 1984, she received a certification in Early Childhood Care and as a result had a major influence on the development of hundreds of additional children over the next decade. After her retirement, she continued to care for grandchildren and became one of the biggest fans at the local high school sporting events where her grandchildren attended. Shortly before her passing, she was brought out to the center of the baseball field and presented with a bouquet of flowers for all of her support.

Catherine will be missed by so many and the emptiness in our hearts is only softened by knowing her pain is gone and she is with loved ones who will take care of her until we meet again. She was an active member of the San Pablo Parish in Marathon, Fla., and with all the love and caring she gave to others certainly has earned her a spot in heaven. She will always remain in our hearts and prayers.

Funeral services will be at Saint Anthony’s in Burlington on June 24, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. with internment following at the New Calvary Cemetery in Burlington.

Good Afternoon,
I noticed that you posted the obituary for catherine Roussin on your website and I wanted to make sure you were
aware that the date was wrong for the funeral and it is the 24th not the 23rd.  There will be a correction in tomorrows freepress
and also the online obit has been updated.
Thank You
Mike Roussin
