Flood Watch Cancelled in Vermont

Flood Warnings Remain in a Few Counties

WATERBURY - This morning, May 26, the National Weather Service cancelled the flood watch for all of Vermont. The Vermont Emergency Operations Center will remain open and state emergency staff will continue to monitor areas in Chittenden, Lamoille, extreme southern Franklin, Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans counties where Flood Warnings are still active. For up-to-date weather alerts, visit the National Weather Service Burlington at http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/btv/.

Vermont Route 128 in Essex and the Maidstone state highway are closed due to water over the roadways. Vermont Route 108 is closed over Smugglers Notch due to snow accumulation. Vermont Route 15, in Cambridge, will continue to be monitored for possible high water levels near Wrong-Way Bridge. Further road closures are possible and crews from VTrans are staged and ready to respond.

US Route 5 in Derby Line, VT has been closed just north of Caswell Ave due to a hole discovered in the pavement a couple feet on the Canada side of the United States/Canada border. For safety concerns traffic will not be allowed to travel US Route 5 north into Canada and people are asked to utilize Interstate 91 or Beebe Plain Ports of Entry, as alternate routes.

The Vermont State Police and fire resources monitored a beaver dam above 238 Poker Hill Road in Underhill, overnight, and a breach is not anticipated, at this time.

Utility companies have been working overnight to restore service to hit areas; making good progress. For an up to date picture please visit www.vtoutages.com<http://www.vtoutages.com>.
