WILLIAM O. MASHIA


HINESBURG - William Mashia, 79, of Hinesburg, passed away peacefully on Jan. 13, 2014, in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Oct. 19, 1934, in Williston, to Kenneth and Theresa Mashia. He married Beverly Irish on Sept. 20, 1952, and they enjoyed 55 years together, until she predeceased him in 2008. Bill worked various jobs including carpentry, construction and truck driving. He was an avid hunter, who looked forward to deer season, blue grass festivals, camping, and special times with family, friends, and especially his grand- children. He is survived by his seven children and their spouses, Cheryl and Tom Estey of Starksboro, Michael and Lisa Mashia of Richmond, Rick Mashia, Mark and Caroline Mashia of Hinesburg, Laurie and Chris Meyer of Williston, Allen and Marilyn Mashia of Hinesburg, Gary Mashia and Robin of Hinesburg; 15 very special grand- children; eight very special great-grand- children; brother, Ronald and wife, Shirley Mashia, of Fairfax; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Harold and Paulita Irish, Roy Irish, and Sharon Irish; nieces and nephews; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Mashia. He also leaves behind many longtime friends and very special friend and companion, Viola Bedell of Bristol. Bill was predeceased by his sister, Janice, and brotherin-law, Howard Irish. There will be no visiting hours prior to the funeral. A funeral service will be held on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Hinesburg. A reception will follow immediately after the service at St. Jude's Parish Hall. Arrangements are in care of Stephen C. Gregory & Son Cremation Service.
