Below is the write-up of the largely attended funeral of Mark A. "Marky" Arsenault:
MARK A. ‘MARKY’ ARSENAULT
Funeral services for Mark A. “Marky” Arsenault, who passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, were held on Saturday, June 30, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. in Mount Calvary Cemetery with the Reverend Maurice J. Roy, Pastor of Holy Angels Catholic Church officiating. Marky’s casket was escorted to the cemetery by his beloved horses, “Doc” and “John,” who were driven by family friend, Tim Cory. En route to the cemetery, the procession stopped in front of the Beverage Mart where Marky’s parents, Debbie and Ross, and brother, Tom, darkened the store in memory of their son.
The crucifix was placed on his casket by his parents. Musical selections, “When I Get Where I am Going,” “Tears In Heaven,” “One More Day,” and “Angel in the Wind,” were by Mary Jo Gillilan. Special music, “Amazing Grace,” was by Marky’s cousin, John McDonald.
In attendance and forming a Guard of Honor were members from the St. Albans City and Town Fire Departments and presenting the colors were members from the St. Albans Town Fire Department Honor Guard.
Among the many in attendance was representation from Bellows Free Academy, Class of 2003, Clarence Brown, Inc, Farrell Distributing, Baker Distributing, Lake Street Auto, Reeds Construction, Buyers Digest, Champlain Chevrolet, Charbonneau and Son, R.J. Martell, Sears Store of St. Albans, Craig Agan Construction, Common Wealth, Charlebois, R.P.M. Motor Sports, Timmy’s Kids Foundation, Law Offices of Timothy Hawkins, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Franklin Lodge 4, F&AM, Mount Sinai Motor Corps, Portland Glass, Coca Cola, GPL Maple Products, Teeter Totters, S.B. Collins, Franklin County Humane Society, Lyndon Bank, Sticks and Stuff, Ed White Auto Sales, Town of St. Albans officials, Desorcie Emergency E-One Products, Ehlers R.V., Langevin Construction, Bedard Refrigeration, A.N. Deringer, Inc., Franklin County Firefighters Association, Vermont State Firefighters Association, St. Albans Town Firefighters and Ladies Auxiliary, Georgia Fire Department, St. Albans City Fire Department, Highgate Fire Department, Fairfield Fire Department, Fairfax Fire Department, Tribal Eye Tattoo, Betty’ Flower Basket, Lareau Appraisers, Vermont State Police, Northwestern Medical Center, Kittell, Branagan and Sargent, J&L Service Center, Bonnett Welding, Bonnett 79 Race Team, Cyr 32 Race Team, Capital Candy, Handy Toyota, Department of Homeland Security, Burt Paquin Ford, Paquin Motor, Inc., Regal Art Press, Peoples Trust Company, McGuels Irish Burro, Dragon’s 55 Race Team and many of Marky’s friends, loyal customers and co-workers of the Beverage Mart and Hoss’s Dogg House.
Casket bearers who escorted Marky’s casket on the wagon were Steve Ladd, Lance Reed, Chris Reed, Ryan Charbonneau, Doug White, Matt Nelson, Shawn “Freddie” Gordon and Donald Bovat.
Honorary bearers were Steve McDonald, Kyle Palmer, Justin Hanson, Dana Murphy, Brian Smith, Josh Boissoneault, Adam Bartemy and Aaron Bartemy. They were escorted to the cemetery in Marky’s truck driven by his brother, Tom.
Following Prayers of committal by Father Roy, interment took place in the Arsenault family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery. A luncheon followed at the Moose Hall hosted by friends of the Arsenault family. Father Roy held the Vigil of the Deceased with Marky’s family on Friday afternoon. During visitation the guest register was tended by family friend, Cliff Machia. A special thanks goes to Brent Palmer, Tim Corey, Martha Manning, Dan Desorcie, June Dragon, Michelle Paya, Angie Raboty, Tammy Hardy Fran Longley, Don and Debbie Fleming, Jim Parah, Viki Copeland, Crystal Walentine, Dale and Debbie White, Ken Barkyoumb, Russell and Darlene Gagne and family, Gordon and Shelley Gagne and family and the staff of the Beverage Mart for all of the assistance given to the family. Also to the St. Albans community for the respect shown to Marky’s funeral procession.
On Saturday evening, Dragon’s 55 Race Team won the race at the “White Mountain 150" and dedicated it in memory of Marky.
Assisting Marky’s family is the Heald Funeral Home of St. Albans.
