DORIS A. (UTTER) DENNIS


BURLINGTON - Doris Avis (Utter) Dennis, 78, passed away at Birchwood Terace Healthcare on Monday, July 28, 2014. She was born in Jonesville on Sept. 18, 1935, daughter of the late Fred and Bertha (Vaughn) Utter. Doris was married to the love of her life, Harold R. "Buster" Dennis, who predeceased her on April 8, 2005. Doris was a loving wife, mother and "Nana." She was a valued past member of the Rebecca lodge in Burlington. The family would like to extend a very special Thank You to the staff at Birchwood "A Wing" for their loving care of our beloved "Nana." She is survived by a son, Robert Harold Dennis of Winooski; daughter, Eleanor Jimmo of Burlington; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Millard Utter and his wife, Shirley, of Colchester; sister, Hilda Tosh of Arkansas; sister-in-law, Jan Utter of Connecticut; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Doris was also predeceased by grandson, "RJ"; three brothers, Norman, Charles and Kenneth Utter; two sisters, Lillian Horner and Cornelia Desmarais. Visiting hours will be held at the A.W. Rich Funeral Home Essex Chapel on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, from 10 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow the memorial service in the family lot in Saint Luke Cemetery, Fairfax. A reception will be held at the Burlington VFW, 176 So. Winooski Ave., Burlington, following the cemetery committal.
