GEORGIA, Vt. -
A Vermont family is safe after escaping an overnight fire that destroyed a home at 3256 High Bridge Road in Georgia.

Firefighters say the home was fully involved when they arrived around 1 a.m. Saturday.

The Red Cross reports that the family and pets got out safely.

Firefighters endured subzero temperatures, which made battling the fire difficult.
