CLOVIS FERDAND GAGNER, JR.Clovis Ferdand Gagner, Jr., “Clover” left his family and friends unexpectedly and was called to “his higher power” at the age of 51 on Friday, February 20, 2015.
Born in St. Albans, on April 8, 1963, he was the son of the late Beverly Gagner and Clovis F. Gagner, Sr.
Clovis graduated from Bellows Free Academy, St. Albans, in 1981. He was a Varsity player that stood out and loved to run. He participated in soccer, baseball, and basketball. Clovis was on many State Championship Teams. One of many coaches that made a difference was Dan Marlow. Boxing was also a major part of his early life, winning a Golden Gloves, before retiring for his family. He also coached many years, baseball at Swanton Rec, hockey in MAAA, soccer coach as well at MVU. He always spoke highly of his athletes, even though he could out run his players. Clovis took pride in his athletic build and ability to maintain it right up to the end. To many he was known as “Popeye” due to his muscles, he liked to flex. Now that his grandchildren are old enough, they take part in all the sports that “Pepe” Clovis did. He was their biggest fan when on the field, ice or the diamond.
His next big passion was mason work; he took pride as well in gardening that his father Clovis Gagner, Sr., taught him. He also worked at the St. Albans Co-Operative Creamery in the new department of powder packing and took pride in his knowledge of the technology.
He was truly a family man. He also found joy in playing old rock and roll albums and his famous harmonica playing. Clovis also found live in playing horseshoes.
Clovis is survived by his wife Laura Gagner, and his step-children, Jazmyn Townsend and Jordan Townsend of Fairfax, his children, Amanda and her husband Randy Connellly, their children, Blake, Madden and Beckett, Kyle Gagner and his significant other Katie Forkas and his son Kaleb Amory Gagner, and also their children Bella Sarah Forkas and Emmy Alice-Catherine Gagner (on the way), Alison Gagner and significant other James Cross, her children Blaze Greenwood and Kyia Greenwood, also expecting in September. Clovis is also survived by their mother Tina Lang, and predeceased by Amory and Catherine Grandchamp. He was also predeceased by his grandfather Louis Hemingway and Grandmother Clara, and his aunts and uncles. Also surviving him is his brother Louis Gagner and his five sisters Rose Miller, Cindy St. Francis, Clara Sochia, Pamela Conger, and Dawn Stell, his best friend and childhood brother, Kipper Church, along with many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 27, 2015 at 11:00 AM. in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Chapel. The family will receive condolences at the funeral home, 86 South Main St., Thursday evening from 6 to 9 PM. Interment will be in the spring in the Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers, to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
