Fairfax - Calvin K. Morgan, 66 of Main Street died peacefully Thursday evening August 16, 2007 at his home in Fairfax surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer.
Calvin was born October 23, 1940 in Burlington the son of Paul and Ethel (Turner) Morgan. He graduated from Milton High School. On September 5, 1959 he married Elizabeth (Betty) McDonald in St. Ann’s Church in Milton.
He belonged to the Milton Volunteer Fire Department for many years and was an active Boy Scout Leader. He had the unforgettable opportunity to do a 50 mile hike with the boys. Calvin was also a coach for the Milton Little League. He was employed by Sears, Lowell and Austin and IBM before starting his own electrical, plumbing, heating and construction company. He owned and operated the Milton Bowling Lanes with his wife from 1969 to 1976.
Calvin is survived by his wife, Betty of Fairfax, and their children, Robert and his wife Susan of Maryland, Brian of Georgia, Adam of Westford and his daughter Bridget of Fairfax. His grandchildren, Bethany White of Virginia, Jennifer, Nicholas and Jessica of Maryland, Charles of Georgia, Casey of Fairfax and Timothee of Westford. One great granddaughter, Ashley White of Virginia and several foster grandchildren. His mother, Ethel (Turner) Morgan of Montgomery Center, his brothers, Ronald and his wife Jane of Milton, Leland and his wife Nancy Jo of Milton, Paul and his wife, Pauline of Florida. His sister, Joanne Nichols and husband Paul of Montgomery Center, Sisters-in-law, Marion Morgan of Milton and Lillian Morgan of Georgia, Carol Bushey and husband James of Bridport, Eleanor Parker of North Carolina and Sarah Jean McDonald of Milton, Brother-in-law, George McDonald and wife Marie of Milton and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his infant son, Calvin Jr., his father, Paul and his brothers, Howard (Joe) and Keith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday August 20, 2007 at 11 am in St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Fairfax with Fr. Romanus Igweonu officiating. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Milton.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Franklin County Hospice Program, in care of the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, VT 05478
Visiting Hours will be held on Saturday August 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and on Sunday August 19 from 2-4 pm with vigil prayers being offered by Fr. Rome at 3:45 pm in the Minor Funeral home in Milton.
