I live in Westford. I'm not a part of your forum. I just returned from Steeple Market and noticed on my trip that someone changed the "Welcome to Fairfax" signs to "Welcome to Handyville".
I'm sure this is an April fools but I'm dying to know what it means. I figured you'd be in the know.
thanks, --rick

Can Someone please post a picture if this is true. I just hope that those nice signs on the way into town weren't damaged.

It's true. I saw the sign on my way home from Milton about an hour ago. Didn't get a picture though. I was also wondering what was going on with it.

It might have something to do with the Handy family buying properties in Fairfax. It's just my guess.

As an observer I have to say, in defense of the Handys, I did not see any one else stepping up to buy "junk" properties and make them into presentable homes, rid the community of some questionable folks that made other people's lives miserable, and tear down a building that was an eye sore and dangerous to the community. Sure there is investment on a scale to which Fairfax is not accustomed; however, much of it is for the better. My opinion.

I share your opinion John. The Grange Hall, Vt Food Ventures, Maple Street. The village is much nicer. I still have Maryann's power chair & am keeping the battery charged, waiting for the day I can ride around the village on the sidewalk & truly enjoy our little town. My opinion, "Thank you Gabe."

Although the sign is amusing, and Mr. Handy has indeed purchased a great deal of property in the town, John is quite correct. The changes are definitely for the better!

I also agree with John and am grateful for the positive changes made by him in the community.

Sorry if I came off as being negative towards Gabe, that was not my intention at all. I agree Maple street looks 100 times better than it used too!! I actually give Mr. Handy props for sticking to his guns and not being bullied by the former select board. No ill will on my part at all!!
