Hi All,
Well, after a rather hectic week, Maryann and I got up to a kind of gloomy cloudy sky this morning that didn't really look all that good, but decided we would venture down to the Champlain Valley Fair.
Our first stop when we got there was at the Vermont Maple Sugar Shack where we each got a cup of coffee and a maple frosted doughnut. Retired teacher Elaine Delorme was working at that station. I had my camera with me and offered to take my first photo at the fair, but Elaine declined my offer.
We then went on to the expo building and walked around a bit. One of the first familiar faces we came upon was 101 year old Ray Jenkins. Ray is the Oldest Known American Worker as well as the Oldest Living IBM Retiree.
Went on down a ways and got to the Quilting Display where one of our Fairfax Residents and also an IBM Retiree Gina Meigs was working:

Maryann wanted a Corn Dog, so got her one of those while I feasted on some Fried Dough with butter, maple syrup and confectionery sugar. We had walked through a couple of the buildings and Maryann looked at the paintings and photographs. A number of them were from here in the Fairfax/Westford/Cambridge area. We then shared a Bloomin Onion, strolled around, sat a while and people watched hoping to see some people we knew. It turned out to be a really nice day as we both removed our sweaters we had gone in with. Looked in the Lions Food Booth and who should be working there at the grill, but Wes Bristol, another IBM Retiree, so had to see what kind of a cook he was and ordered me a hot dog with cooked peppers and onions. Wes is a pretty darned good cook and below you can see his photo as after I finished the hot dog, went back and took his picture.
Well, now there was just one thing left to do. We started off our day with The Vermont Sugar Shack and our day certainly would not have been complete without going back there and getting one of their delicious Maple Creemees. Didn't happen to see her when I went in, but she saw me and came out to say "Hi." It was Alma (Fanton) Fournier pictured on the left below with a co-worker in the Maple Sugar area of the Vermont Sugar Shack.
Each year we do just about the same thing at the fair: eat, people watch, and go through the two expo buildings. Why do we do this, well its something we enjoy and its the way we celebrate our yearly Wedding Anniversarys. This year makes our 47th on September 3, 2007.
Didn't catch anyone to snap our photo with my camera, but below is one Maryann and I will always cherish as we posed with our wonderful parents on our wedding day 47 years ago:
