Fairfax/St. Albans - Christopher A. Montgomery, 60, a lifelong resident of this area passed away unexpectedly, Monday, September 24, 2007, shortly after arrival at the Northwestern Medical Center. He was born in St. Albans on November 12, 1946, the son of the late Edward S. Montgomery, Sr. and Frances (Hazard) Montgomery.

Christopher was a 1966 graduate of Bellows Free Academy in Fairfax. Upon graduation he entered the United States Army and received an honorable discharge on November 12, 1969. He then attended Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. He was employed by the Burlington Free Press, GO-GO Gas, Wagon Wheel Truck Stop, and at the time of his death, at Ben & Jerry’s Homemade, Incorporated.

Survivors include his sister, Frances “Butchie” Theoret and her husband, Lawrence, Sr. of Alburgh and several nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends in the St. Albans area. Christopher was preceded in death by his father, Edward S. Montgomery, Sr. on February 15, 1980, his mother, Frances H. Montgomery on March 22, 1985, his sister, Victoria J. Montgomery on January 2, 2005, his brother, Edward S. Montgomery, Jr. on October 23, 1966, his brother-in-law, Gerald L. Theoret on July 21, 2007 and his nephew, Lawrence A. Theoret, Jr. on April 24, 2003.

I will continue to miss you Chris, as I have for the past 15-20 years, love, your sister, Butchie. I hope you rest in peace.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, October 1, 2007, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery on Route 104 in Fairfax. He will be laid to rest with full military honors next to his mother, father, and brother, Eddie. There will be no public visitation. Because of Christopher’s love for animals, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, Vermont 05478. Assisting Christopher’s family is Lucien Hayes of the Heald Funeral Home in St. Albans. Messages of condolence are welcome at www.healdfuneralhome.com.[/b]

Christopher A.  Montgomery

Fairfax – Funeral services for Christopher A. Montgomery, who passed away Monday, September 24, 2007, were held on Monday, October 1, 2007, at 11:00 A.M. at the Montgomery family lot in St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery.  The Reverend, Father Romanus Igweonu, Parochial Vicar of St. Luke’s Catholic Church officiated.  The Gospel was proclaimed by the Reverend Mr. Stephen Ratte, Deacon at St. Luke’s, with Christopher’s nephew, Michael Theoret, lecturer at St. Luke’s, reading the Holy Scriptures.   

In attendance was representation from R&A Auto Body, Peerless Clothing, Twin State Showroom, Go-Go Gas, Wagon Wheel Truck Stop and Ben and Jerry’s Homemade Inc.

Casket bearers were Timothy Theoret, Michael Theoret, Vicki Hemond, Andy Pion, Ed Czuchery and Todd Bessette.

Full military honors were accorded the U. S. Army veteran by the Army Joint Forces Head Quarters Honor Guard. The Officer in Charge was SGT. Brian Murray.  The firing Squad consisted of SPC Time Graves, SPC Mike Audette and SPC Andrew Siegriest.  The Bugler was SGT Wendy Kruger. The American Flag draping Christopher’s casket was folded by SPC Time Graves and SPC Mike Audette and presented to his sister Frances “Butchie” Theoret by SGT Murray.

Following the services, a luncheon was served in the St. Luke’s Church Parish Hall by the St. Luke Parish Bereavement Committee. Assisting Christopher’s family is the Heald Funeral Home of St. Albans.[/b]
