A 19-year-old man from Milton was killed early this morning when he lost control of his 1989 Ford Bronco on Interstate-89, said Vermont State Police.

The man, whose name has been withheld pending notification of family, was driving north on I-89 at about 1:30 a.m., when he lost control at Exit 17, flipping his vehicle, police said. The man was ejected from the SUV. He was taken to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said the man was not wearing his seatbelt. Alcohol, officers said, does not appear to be a factor.

Channel 3 News reported on the 6 p.m. news tonight:

A Milton teenager is dead after an early morning car crash on Interstate 89. Police say 19-year-old Jeremy Campbell was driving North when he lost control near Exit 17. The car rolled several times down an embankment. Campbell was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. He died at the hospital. A police investigation indicates that Campbell may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Police say speed and alcohol were NOT factors in the crash.
