Hi All,
Well, if you have driven downtown recently, you have probably noticed the surveyors equipment at the intersection of Fletcher & Route 104 as well as other stakes on Main Street at the top of Main Hill and also down on Maple Street.
Well, I caught the two surveyors down on Maple street yesterday:
When I asked the guy on the left if they were surveying for the Bridge #10 Replacement, he told me they were not replacing the bridge, that they were doing a recon job. He said they will be using the old stone wall that supports the bridge, patch it up with a little concrete and put a new top on it. He didn't seemed to impressed with it, but said that was what they were asked to survey for. Below is a photo I was able to take from above the bridge of the old stone wall:
I believe that prior to our sewerage plant here in town, lots of sewerage came down through some of those pipes into Mill brook.
I believe that same stone wall has been there for a long time and probably was there back when the following picture was taken back in the early 1900s:
Below is the bridge as it is seen today from a similar vantage point:
I didn't ask the guys if they were doing anything about surveying the Boissoneault Road Bridge[/b]
