Hi All,

If you drive your vehicle up to Montreal, you might want to read the article that was presented on Channel 3 News tonight - These car theives target Vermont/New Hampshire/New York cars and your chance of it being found is about 2% - Pretty slim chance you will get it back - Make sure you have insurance in case your car is stolen in Canada also - Lots of car insurances don't cover you up there.

If you care to read the article you can check it out at:

I used to work in insurance claims.  We'd get a few of these claims a year.  Contractors would drive their vehicles up there and they'd be gone in hours.  There was story last year I believe where a local driver lost his truck in minutes.  He checked into his hotel, brought his bags to his room.  He realized he forgot something from the truck. He went to the garage to find an empty spot.  Truck was gone in less than an hour.

The story I heard was some guys from this area stopped at a strip club. One of the guys wasn't feeling well and crashed in the back seat of the truck they were all in. The guy fell asleep, and when he woke up, they were traveling and strangers were driving the truck. The guy sat up and said something. The stranger in the front passenger seat, whirled around, stuck a gun in the local guy's face and said one word. "OUT!" The driver pulled over and the local guy got out and the truck took off.
The strip club was near Montreal. The local guy was dropped off near Sherbrooke.

I went up there with a brand new Suburban in the early 1990's.  We parked at Man and His World (Terre des Hommes)...well, the amusement park there...I can't think of the name.  Anyway, came back to the car, and it was GONE!  Had to rent a car to drive home...total bummer!  The cop just laughed and said it was probably already on a ship headed for Africa or somewhere!
