Issued at: 10:39 AM EST 1/29/08, expires at: 2:00 PM EST 1/29/08

Winter weather advisory in effect until 2 pm est this afternoon.

The NWS has issued a winter weather advisory, which is in effect until 2 pm est this afternoon for central and northern vermont.
A fast moving area of light mixed precipitation ahead of a warm front will impact upstate vermont including the champlain valley, green mountains, and the connecticut river valley in the late morning into the early afternoon. Temperatures in the advisory area range from the teens to twenties. The precipitation will likely start out as snow and sleet and continue to transition quickly to freezing rain. Temperatures will rise above freezing in the early to mid afternoon.

Light ice accumulations may occur from a trace to a tenth of an inch. Any untreated surfaces may become slippery and treacherous.

A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain will lead to, or result in slippery roads and limited visibilities. Use caution while driving.

Please stay tuned to noaa weather radio, your local media, or go to www.weather.gov/burlington for further updates on this weather situation.

Roads are getting slippery in Central Vermont (Waterbury/Middlesex) area.  Heard of one accident (slight injuries) in Middlesex.
I hear Chittenden County area is starting to have the same problem.

I told my wife that a husband is like a fine wine; he gets better with age. The next day, she locked me in the cellar.

 Winter weather advisory is cancelled.

The NWS in burlington has cancelled the winter weather advisory for the entire north country.

The freezing rain that moved across the north country this morning through early afternoon has all but moved east of the area. Temperatures are slowly rising and should reach above freezing later today. With no additional precipitation expected, the threat for freezing rain has come to an end across the entire north country. As a result, the winter weather advisory for the north country has been cancelled.
