The St. Albans City Police Department is investigating an Unlawful Restraint & Assault and Robbery that occurred at approximately 3:00 a.m., this morning (04-16-08) at #82 Lincoln Avenue, in the City of St. Albans. Police were notified at approximately 3:45 a.m., when the victim called for an ambulance, after driving to Swanton.
The incident occurred following a party at the residence. Kevin Martell, age 40 was held for approximately thirty minutes by three (3) male suspects, who physically dragged him from one room to another while they punched and kicked him repeatedly. During the assault the victim was struck in the head with a carpenters hammer and pliers were used to threaten further injuries to him.
The assault ended when the victim surrendered $1,900.00 in cash to his attackers.
The victim was transported to the Northwest Medical Center.
St. Albans Police had arrested two of the suspects by 6:30 a.m. They are identified as: Ryan N. Attanasoff, age 31 of St. Albans City, and Stephen Wells, age 31 of St. Albans City.
The third suspect, Dana Gray, age 30 of Fairfax, Vermont was arrested by Vermont State Police conducting a motor vehicle stop on the Interstate Access Road in St. Albans at approximately 1:10 p.m. today.
Police obtained two (2) separate search warrants. One for the residence at #82 Lincoln Avenue and one for Dana Gray’s residence at #30 Stable Road, Fairfax, Vermont. The warrants are being executed at the issuance of this press release. The investigation is continuing.
