I always thought the ideal place for a robin to build its nest was hidden up in the Maple trees.  This year the girls down at the town office showed me one that is up on a ledge on the porch of the Town Office and I have a robin that has built a nest on a ledge between my house and ramp roofs.  Both of these places seem to be safer and more secure and not apt to be knocked down by the wind.  Unfortunately, everytime I go down the ramp out of the house, off flys the robin.  If she is sitting on eggs, at this rate, they may never hatch.  Below is a photo of the location of the bird's nest:
