Chandler B. Nealy was a descendant of the Chandler Family that lived where Dusty Trail Realty is now located.

CHANDLER B. NEALY SHELBURNE/ INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, FL. — Chandler B. (Bud) Nealy, aged 79, passed away, Monday, April 28, in his winter residence in Florida after a long illness. Bud was born Dec. 22, 1929, in Newport, Vt., the son of the late Ralph E. and Grace (Chandler) Nealy. He graduated from Newport High School in 1946 and joined the Navy where he traveled the world. Upon his return, he enrolled at UVM and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He began his working career with Westinghouse Electric and later went to work for Schiring Xray, located at the time in Colchester. Bud went on to buy the company and operate it for many years, retiring in 1989. Bud was an “old timer“ friend of Bill W., and had many valued friends over 48 years in the program. He was an inspiration to all those who knew him. Bud was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Shelburne, and was very much a spiritual soul. He enjoyed boating, fishing, reading and doing crossword puzzles, but most of all he was a generous and devoted husband, father and friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Bud was married June 5, 1950, to Carolyn Lewis, in Newport. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carolyn Lewis, and his five children and spouses, Craig of New York, N.Y., Jon and Marianne of Shelburne, Eric and Diane of Waterbury, Matthew and Kimberly of Chester Springs, Penn., and Robin Lawyer and her husband Todd of St. Albans. Bud is also survived by his 11 loving grandchildren. He is survived by one sister, Ruth Vanderbrook and husband Richard of Tonawanda, N.Y., and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Donations in Bud's mem-ory can be made to COTS or the Chittenden County Food shelf. Services will be announced and held at a later date.

CAROLYN NEALY SHELBURNE / INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, Fla. — Carolyn Lewis (Tally) Nealy, age 78, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008, in her winter residence in Florida after a lingering illness. She is reunited with her husband and soulmate, Chandler (Bud) Nealy, who passed nine days earlier. Tally was born Sept. 14, 1929, in Newport, the daughter of the late C. Earl and Winsome (Jones) Lewis. She graduated from Newport High School and Burdett Business College in Boston. On June 5, 1950, she married Chandler B. Nealy in Newport. She was one of the original employees of the IBM plant in Essex Junction, before becoming a full time homemaker. She also worked as a real estate agent for a number of years. Tally was a woman of great strength and fortitude. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, Big Band music, time with friends, and visits with her children and grandchildren. She was loved and admired by many and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, Tally was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Chandler Nealy, on April 28, 2008, and her sister, Jeanne L. Keith in 1998. She is survived by sister-in-law, Ruth Vanderbrook and husband Richard of Tonawanda, N.Y.; and her five children and spouses, Craig of New York, N.Y., Jon and Marianne of Shelburne, Eric and Diane of Waterbury, Matt and Kimberly of Chester Springs, Penn., and Robin and husband Todd Lawyer of St. Albans. There will be a luncheon reception in the McClure room following the service. Internment will follow in the family lot at Fairfax Plains Cemetery. Mom and Dad, from your children and grandchildren, we miss you and will always love you, rest in peace.
