Warning: Never discuss politics with friends.

Oh well.

As to McCain being another Bush.

For 4 years the press used McCain's differences with Bush
to drill home the fact that Bush did not have 100% Republican support.

Bush said stay the course in Iraq.
McCain argued loudly to get the surge approved.
Obama said the surge would never work, would actually hurt.

May was the lowest casualty month in Iraq since DAY 1,
did you hear the press cover this, no.
Will the press say McCain was right ? No.

Obama says "McCain is another Bush" and people believe it ???
The press covers that.
We hear it almost every day.

And by the way, when is he going to go into details on his promised "Change".

At this time, I can discuss his ideas, or lack of them, with no fear of the government.
Will he "Change" that ?

I can carry a gun.
Will he "Change" that ?

I have the right to vote in November.
Will he "Change" that ?

If I call 911, professionals respond to my emergency.
Will he "Change" that ?

We are a democracy, we are America.
I don't want him to change that.

And, of course, NO, we are not perfect.
But I'm grateful for all we have.

McCain/Santee 08
:-)

I should probably duck now.

Thanks for this forum Henry !!!

Take Care & God Bless,

Of course the "surge" will work.....temporarily.  The people we are fighting have time on their side.  If now is not a good time to attack, they'll wait.  I just wish the people that thought of the surge would be there for the last flight out...I know I would not want to be one of the last couple of thousand troops left.

McCain's got no easy shoe-in either.  He's come across way too moderate for his own party and hasn't exactly been consistent at controlling his emotions.  He's a realist to a fult in some regards, so not totally unattractive, But after 8 years of displeasure, i think plain and simple people don't only WANt a change, they NEED a change.  Hence you have record numbers of republicans switching affiliations and having become registered democrats.  You have independents usually on the fence until election day already picking the side for change.  You've got record numbers of youth participating in the voting process.  You have record amounts of Cash raised by candidates.  You've got amounts of groundwork and state by state coverage not seen in decades.
CHANGE has become a strong theme with many implications.

As for a Obama Clinton ticket.... if they both talked out their agendas and then worked out a compromise, i think that ticket would go all the way.  Obama's staff has been superb at weaving anything that happens into an opportunity for him to benefit by it.  with Clinton on the ticket, maybe it becomes a political shakedown which they work to their favor by helping to change their image abroad.  I don't know the pro of holding onto the clinton era might be holding onto the memories of America flourishing.  Maybe the pro is that some other world leader will remember that too and thus we start to dig ourselves out of the labeled holes we've dug for ourselves.

7f24 - i hear what you're saying - i hope the iraqi army is up to snuff by the time we've only got a few thousand left over there.  Something tells me though, that the day that we only have 10,000 over there is STILL a long way off.

If you were Obama would you want Bill looking over your shoulder and shaking his head?  I would be shocked if he picked her.
