VIRGINIA M. (WATSON) MAYVILLE

MILTON — Virginia Mary Watson Mayville, 82, died peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2008, in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, following a long illness. Virginia was lovingly embraced by her family as she passed from this life. Virginia was born in Grand Isle on April 22, 1926, the eldest daughter of the late Hershel and Lennie (Socia) Watson. She is survived by her daughter Valerie Gray and her husband Robert of Fairfax; her son Michael Mayville and his wife Kathy of Essex; her grandchildren Lorrie Bendl and her husband William, Tessa Irish and her husband William, Heather Mannings and her fiance Darrell Desranleau, and Amber Mayville; by her great- grandchildren, Chelsea, Thomas and Brian, Jordan and Nicolas; and by her greatgreat-granddaughter Raelyn. Virginia is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Claudia and Arthur Bourgeois of Milton, her Goddaughters, Tammy Benoit and Tina Watson and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Edna and David Walker. Virginia's joy in life was her family. There was nothing she loved more than having everyone gathered together at summer camp, enjoying the west shore of the Lake Champlain Islands; sunrise to sunset on the Islands, that in her heart was still home. Virginia also enjoyed a special friendship with Joyce Painter of Fairfax. They spent countless Saturdays together enjoying the sun on the deck or a conversation around the family table. Special thanks and deepest gratitude from Virginia's family to: Virginia's “church lady,“ Jocelyn Wesson of St. Ann's Parish in Milton, who for many years visited Virginia and offered Holy Communion and religious service in Virginia's home. Jocelyn provided many hours of comfort and friendship; Joy Drive Dialysis Unit in South Burlington, where Virginia received excellent care from all and with particular fondness of Robert and Karen, who made her feel special each and every day she had treatment; Dr. David Hobbs of Grand Isle, for his outstanding care for Virginia, both medically and personally; Benway Taxi of Burlington, in particular dispatch and Virginia's drivers throughout her years of dialysis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 10, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grand Isle. Burial will follow in the Grand Isle Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 1, Milton, VT 05468, or to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Boulevard, Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852-9813. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 9, from 5-8 p.m. with prayers offered at 8 p.m. by Father Feltz, in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.
