Happened to be in the town office and someone came in and needed something notorized.  When he asked Donna how much it was, she told him that Town Clerks don't charge for notorizing documents as it is a service provided as part of the job.  Never knew that, thought you always had to pay to get something notorized.

I believe the other thing is though in order to have someone notorize something is that you sign it in front of them so they can truly notarize that you saw them sign it.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't believe banks charge for notarizing either.
