KATHERINE E. (GOKEY) BLAISDELL

WINOOSKI — Katherine E. Blaisdell, 86, a longtime resident of Winooski, died Tuesday, July 29, 2008, in Birchwood Terrace Healthcare in Burlington with her children and grandchildren by her side following a long illness. Katherine was born in Fairfax on Sept. 18, 1921, the daughter of Wilfred and Astella (Fonya) Gokey. She was married in Georgia on Dec. 14, 1936, to Alfred Blaisdell, who predeceased her in 1993. She enjoyed circle word and jigsaw puzzles. Katherine is survived by six children, Gordon Blaisdell and Mary of Albany, N.Y., Darlene Shepard and her husband Gerald of Colchester, Carol Blaisdell of Montpelier, Reginald Blaisdell and his wife Susan of Milton, Lawrence Blaisdell of Montpelier, and Charlotte Blaisdell of South Burlington; 30 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; seven great-greatgrandchildren and one on the way; and two brothers, Byron Gokey and his wife Phyllis of Waterbury, and Richard Gokey and his wife Marie of Connecticut. Katherine was predeceased by two sons, Maurice and Donald Blaisdell; and two grandsons, Larry and Steven Blaisdell. Visiting hours will be on Friday, Aug. 1, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and funeral services on Saturday, Aug. 2, at 11 a.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St., Winooski. Interment will follow at Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vermont Respite House, 99 Allen Brook Lane, Williston, VT 05495.
