State wildlife officials say a brown bear was hit and killed by a vehicle in Midtown Anchorage early today.

The bear was struck by a car on Seward Highway near the Chester Creek greenbelt between 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m.

State wildlife officials say the collision is another example of bears and humans getting too close for comfort this summer in Alaska's largest city.

They finally caught up to the grizzly that charged a bunch of people and mauled one lady
