Mary Kay tells me that gas is $3.71 at Maplefields in Colchester - That Obama, sure doesn't take him long to get things moving in the right direction.
I may wish I hadn't said that??

Nah, the speculating SOB's as well as BIG OIL have realized what might happen if they send the US into a Energy Crisis ( which was predicted by next year at one point - that gas would hit $7.00/gal). And they're not stupid. WIth an estimated 50 -75 years left of petroleum reserves, they don't want to spend 40 of them trying to give it away. If the US decided to address the energy crisis with a fervor similar to that of our response to WWII, we'd be 90% off Foreign oil in a decade to 12 years ( as suggested in a recent issue of i think Car and driver.. or was it the economist.) That would mean HUGE losses for big oil even though CHINA would surely eat up our share gladly.

Gas was $3.69/gallon across the street from Fanny Allen just today. In NH over the weekend and gas was $3.55/gallon.

C'mon Trevor, did you really have to tell us that - Just heard from my daughter in NH and she thought their prices were great at $3.45 - Think it is still $3.79 here in town.
Got to fill my car up again, but got to take a "Chill Pill" first.

Here in Anchorage we are still at $4.29. The peak was at $4.45.

Anyone else making the connection between gas prices and November? Regardless of how low it goes, it will never be as low as it has been in the past. Although it is interesting that So Carolina is so much lower than the north. Does anyone have an explanation for that?

That will never be explained so as WE could understand.
Here is another one for you.
There are 2 or 3 oil refineries around Fairbanks and North Pole, AK.
The pipeline runs thru there and has branches.
Why are people in that area paying around $4.29 a gallon?
You can see a handful of oil platforms out in the inlet from Anchorage.
That oil goes to a Kenai refinery. About 2 hours out of Anchorage.
So if anyone suggests transportation costs, that blows that theory. At least up there.

I can't believe we're all getting excited about 3.45/gal. When Katrina hit the south the price was just about 2.30/gal. and the price has just kept climbing. Well, get ready folks, cause the Gulf is gearing up for possible devastation from Gustov (or however you spell it) headed their way now. What do you think that will do the prices?

FYI Henry, I just noticed this morning that the same station w/gas for $3.29 is advertising B85 Ethanol for $2.99/gallon! (Diesel is $4.05) |
