Well, thank God I didn't here our Fairfax Fire or Rescue toned out last night, although they could have been and I didn't hear them.  Woke up to temperature here at 7:15 to 25.4 degrees below zero, however, it is warming up and is now 24.9 degrees below zero.  Skip down in Shepardson's Hollow has 26.1 degrees below zero and says his temperature is dropping.

I remember back in 1962, when I was living in the little house where Ed Paquin lives, it was over 35 degrees below zero.  Got in my little old 1954 Ford that morning and hoped and prayed it would start.  Pulled the choke way out and pumped the accelerator a couple of times and off she went, but man, it was a cold one.

As I watch the commuters headed out for work here, I think how lucky I am not to have to go out in that weather.  Looking at the smoke coming out of the outdoor furnaces across the road, doesn't look like there is much of a breeze though.

Have a great day and stay warm - remember it doesn't take long to get frostbite in this weather.

Burlington reached 21 below this morning, breaking a record for the date of 20 below, set in 1920, according to the National Weather Service in South Burlington.

My sister called me this morning to see if I could jump start her car.  She has Allstate Road Service and when she called them, apparently they are in Montpelier, so they told her to see if she could get someone to try jumpstarting her car.  I went up, but it wouldn't fire off.  She called them back and they told her to call J & L and have it brought down to Paquins, so hopefully they will get it started for her.

She takes very good care of her car and has it serviced at the dealer meticulously - Couldn't understand why it wouldn't start, but I told her 26 below zero is mighty cold.

I was trying to call her to tell her that maybe someone locally here in town could get her going, but by the time I got through, she had already gone through with Allstate Road Service.
