For some viewers, the switch will only require re-scanning a digital-ready television or conversion box to lock into new channel locations.

“‘Re-scanning’ will be the mantra for the next few weeks,” said Ann Curran, who manages public relations for Vermont Public Television.

WCAX, the CBS affiliate on Channel 3, will move to Channel 22 Wednesday. The station currently on Channel 22, WVNY-ABC, is shifting all programming to Channel 13.

Maryann just brought up an interesting question.  I wonder if when we want to watch Channel 3 on our Satellite Dish if we will have to key in 22 and if we want to watch Channel 22, we will have to key in 13 - Well, something to keep in mind this coming Wednesday Morning.

WCAX-DT is currently running at 10% power in preparation for the DTV Transition. WCAX-DT is moving from Channel 53 to Channel 22 as part of the transition. Between February 13th and 16th, the digital transmitter is expected to be down during early morning hours between 1:30 AM and 4:00 AM. WCAX-DT viewers should expect to lose their signal during those time periods. As of 4:00 AM on February 18th, WCAX-DT should be back up on UHF channel 22 at 50% power, and up to full power by February 21st. Viewers will have to rescan their converter boxes and HDTV sets on February 18th to receive WCAX-DT on its new digital channel.
