This past week my daughter and her family were up to visit us as it was their school vacation down in Bellows Falls.  My grandson, who is turning 16 Wednesday, loves baked beans, so decided I would make some.  I went to the refrigerator to get some Maple Syrup and found I had just a small amount left, so went down cellar and there stood my last 1/2 gallon of Maple Syrup.  It had sat there for a reason, as it came from Frostyhill Maple Products.  For those of you not familiar with Frostyhill Maple Products, that was the label Gilbert Paquin, the young man who died as a result of a bee sting in September, 2007, used for his Maple Syrup.  Each person remembers something different when somebody passes on, and for me with Gilbert, it was his wonderful smile.

Also, I am sure it has happened to many of you where you have the e-mail addresses of people you have communicated with over the years in your address book.  One particular one that I never deleted and only lost it because my computer crashed was that of David Decker, who passed away a few years ago.  I had been communicating with him as he was going to help me with some remembrances of Fairfax in the 1950s as soon as he finished a book he was writing, but that was never met to be.

For a few photos of my visit to Gilbert Paquin's sugarhouse here on The Fletcher Road in March, 2007, you can click on the following link if you wish:

Henry,
Those are 2 things my dad would want to be remembered for.. his syrup and his white teeth! Glad you are still enjoying the syrup. Jimmy and Dylan have the woods just about ready for this year and they did a great job last year, so we keep on tapping and boiling and the show goes on. We will have more syrup to sell later this season (none left from last year), so stop by and pick some up if you see the steam rolling out the roof of the sugarhouse. Jimmy and I are expecting our first baby on April 1st, and my mom says I will probably go into labor during the biggest sap run of the year, so it should be an interesting season!
