Mother Of Mark O'Bryan Passes Away

St. Albans – Lucille Lonergan O’Bryan, 86, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009, at the Redstone Villa with her family at her side. Born in Detroit, Michigan on May 29, 1922, Lucille was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Helen (Sargent) Lonergan. On June 12, 1947, in Middlesex, Vermont Lucille married Edward Anson O’Bryan, who preceded her in death on April 9, 2008.

Lucille graduated from Montpelier High School and attended Vermont College. She served her country during World War II by enlisting in the United States Navy on June 1, 1944; she served in Cleveland, Ohio and at the Navy Supply Center at Pearl Harbor, Territory of Hawaii receiving her Honorable Discharge on March 6, 1946. Lucille was a member of the Green Mountain Post #1 American Legion, Robert E. Glidden Post # 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service-Green Mountain Girls Unit #113.

Survivors include her children, David Anson O’Bryan and his wife, Paulette, of Barre; Candace Irene Barnes and her husband, Steven, of South Burlington; Peter Charles O’Bryan and his wife, Barbara, of St. Albans; Mark Steven O’Bryan and his wife, Jeanne, of Fairfax; nine grandchildren, Thomas and Benjamin O’Bryan, Steven Jr. and Michelle Barnes, Erin and Monika O’Bryan, Christine Cilley, Caren Slayton and Carol Bandy and six great grandchildren, Adeline, Ashley, Cameron, Noah, Caleb and Paige. Lucille is also survived by her sisters, Colleen Savage and her husband, Dick, of Meriden, Connecticut and Sandra Colgan and her husband, Jake, of Barre; a brother, Neil Lonergan and his wife, Luana, of Waynesboro, Virginia and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Edward, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Larose and step-father, Charles Wellington.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at 2:00 P.M. in the Heald Funeral Chapel, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. Interment for Edward and Lucille with full military honors will be held on Saturday May 30, 2009, at 2:00 P.M. at the O’Bryan family lot in the St. Albans Bay Cemetery.
