Back on Easter Sunday, April 14, 1968, Maryann and I and our two oldest girls Lynn & Sharon were at my Mother & Fathers for Easter Dinner.  At that time we had purchased two building lots up on The Buck Hollow road, now 44 & 48 Buck Hollow Road where we were planning to build a new home.  We had purchased the two lots from Ken & Edith Ballard who owned the farm where Paul & Karen Langelier lived.

In the course of the afternoon, we were talking about building the house and just when we were going to do it and Dad mentioned that he and mother would be glad to give us a lot on the farm.  We could choose where ever we wanted.  Well, Maryann and I looked at each other and thought, lets take a look around, and it was on that day that we decided to take and build our new house in 1968 right here at 473 Fletcher Road.  Back then and for a number of years we were RR#2, Box 2220, Cambridge, Vermont.

Approximately 8 weeks later we moved into our new home and have lived here ever since.  Our home at that time cost us $18,000 to build.  There have been a number of changes in the neighborhood as our old neighbors, Ralph & Ruth Ellsworth, My Mom & Dad, Harland, Ola & Ralph Tracy have all passed away as we now approach our 41st year living here at this location.  The Ellsworth Farm, The Tracy Farm, My Dad's Old Farm and the Wayne Ayers Farm across the road are no longer.  Rose Finch who lived just down the road has also passed away and new houses in Wayne Ayers meadow, Tracy's Pasture and even on my Dad's farm have sprouted up.

Perhaps one of Maryann and I's better memories is the decision to build our home here at our present location.  We have always loved it here and hopefully will be able to continue living here for many years to come.
