Hopefully Our Griswold Employees Were Hired By S D Ireland

A merger in Vermont's concrete industry: S.D. Ireland announced it has completed the purchase of the S.T. Griswold Company.

Griswold is based in Williston and specializes in pre-cast concrete. The 52-year-old company was hurt by the recession and planned to close. The owners of S.D. Ireland say they stepped in to buy Griswold's assets because it will allow them to expand into new product lines and areas of the state.

Ireland has 240 employees and has offered jobs to 85 Griswold employees.

We have a number of long time S T Griswold employees who live right here in Fairfax - I would hope they did not lose their jobs in this transition.

This must have been very difficult for the Griswold Family to make this final decision.  I met Doug Griswold by accident one late night at the airport and he seemed like a truly NICE person!  Infact, I will never forget how spontaneous his actions were in helping another person solve a personal minor problem.
