Bernice Eva (Warren) Raymond
June 18, 1940 - June 16, 2009

Fletcher – Bernice Eva Raymond, 68, died Tuesday June 16, 2009 at the Franklin County Health and Rehabilitation Center in St. Albans, following a three year battle with cancer. Bernice was born in Fairfax, Vermont on July 18, 1940, the daughter of Roy and Reba (Stratton) Warren. She married Donald Raymond, the love of her life on January 1, 1956 in Fairfax. She worked 30 years at UVM, retiring in 1993. She and Don enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and camping at Skyland in South Hero with friends. Bernice also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and delivering meals on wheels. Her favorite time was spent being with her children and grandchildren. Bernice is survived by her children Roy Raymond and wife Sandra, Ann Broe and husband Gary “Sam”, and Kathy Murray and husband Michael all of Fletcher, by her grandchildren Wanda Lafar, Craig and Candace Broe, Samantha Broe and Derek Cadieux, Landon & Josette Dupee, Hunter Murray, Chase Murray, Melanie and Kevin Lapierre, Torrey Sise, by her great grand children Lyle Broe, Makayla Dupee, Alicia and Brayden Lafar, Gage Sise, Caitlyn & Madison Lapierre and Avery Tetrault. She is also survived by a sister in law Mary Poirier of St. Albans and by several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Bernice was predeceased by her husband Donald in 2004, her son Timothy in 1963 and her brothers Roger and Freeman Warren and sister Ethel Aldridge. Special thanks are given to Dr. Donald Miller at Cambridge Family Practice Associates, Dr. Christian Nunnick, Elizabeth Steiner and Heidi at the Vermont Cancer Center and Darlene from the VNA for their love and support during Bernice’s care. Memorial contributions in Bernice’s name may be made to the Meals on Wheels Program or to the Franklin County Home Health Hospice Program, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vermont 05478. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday June 22nd at 11:00 am in the Fairfax United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the family lot in Sanderson Corners Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 5:00-8:00pm in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton. Online condolences may be made to www.minorfh.com .

I received a bit of information from Diane (Fanton) Rooney that maybe even Bernice's family may not have been aware of:

"Bernice was one of the 4 eighth graders on the high school cheerleading team.  Not enough high schoolers wanted to cheer, so eighth graders were allowed to try out."
